Brand Licensing Europe 2017

The V&A continues to build on its strong presence in the licensing industry by exhibiting at Brand Licensing Europe 2017. This year has seen the V&A launching more licensed collections than ever before. From a 17 piece homeware collection with UK department store John Lewis to an ethical fashion line with People Tree, the V&A continues to diversify across categories and drive innovative product ideas in the market place.
 
A number of recent product launches demonstrate the Museum’s pioneering spirit. Its debut collection with Papier, the London-based online specialist in personalised stationery, is a first for the Museum in the personalisation arena. Consisting of over 100 customisable products, including stationery, notebooks and wedding invitations, the range is available exclusively at papier.com. Bridging the worlds of technology and travel, a unique 5-piece collection by global lifestyle accessories brand Knomo, whose mission is to create perfect accessories that are beautiful on the outside and smart on the inside.
 
Moreover, an AW17 collection with fashion-forward ethical clothing brand People Tree has been well received by the press, with features in Hello!Fashion, The Guardian and The Observer. The range is available in the UK and Japan, and is stocked by John Lewis, the V&A shop, and online at www.peopletree.co.uk
 
In September, the V&A unveiled its first exclusive collection with John Lewis for A/W 17. Inspired by the collections and interiors of the Museum, V&A inspired, John Lewis designed is comprised of 17 stunning pieces across lighting, furniture, textiles and decorative accessories. The series is being highly publicised via John Lewis’ print media and digital platforms. The collection will be stocked in 23 stores throughout the UK and is a key line within the department store’s ‘Only Here’ campaign.
 
The home interiors sphere has been a focus for the V&A Licensing team, with a variety of product launches including hand crafted rugs by Flair Rugs, photographic gicleé prints by Galerie Prints, and the V&A Classic Paint Collection of 40 distinctive colours inspired by the Museum’s architecture and decorative interiors. This year for the first time, the V&A showcased at Decorex International as part of London Design Festival, inviting interior design professionals to immerse themselves in the Museum’s rich décor and patterns.
 
Continuing its reputation as a leader in the licensing field, the V&A has won Best Art and Design Brand in the 2017 LIMA International Licensing Awards, recognising the outstanding performance by the Museum in the global licensing marketplace. The V&A itself has also been voted the UK’s No.1 Museum in Trip Advisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards 2017, strengthening its status as the world’s leading museum of art, design and performance.
